Thinkfish sponsored the 1st International Fly Casting Meet, held at Segovia in May 2009. This get-together welcomed some extraordinarily fine fly casters, including members of the Spanish Fly Casting Committee (Comisión Nacional de Lanzado – CNL) – Carlos Azpilicueta, Fernando Gil, César de la Hoz, José Antonio Martínez, José Ramón Rodríguez, Raúl Portes and Alejandro Viñuales – and international members of the Fly Angling Federation (FFF) – Charles (Chuck) Easterling and Lasse Karlsson.

When not involved in casting activities participants could attend practical demonstrations like “Presentation casting. The definitive approach”, “Practising for a purpose. How to improve your practice” or “How to cast and present with different lines of different weights and profiles with light rods. How to learn to adjust your casting” among others. After the presentations delegates could do some guided practice of all these techniques, with some very useful on-the-spot corrections by the casting masters present.

The meet ended with an open exhibition of casting by the instructors with many spinning enthusiasts looking on and the CI exams of the Federation of Fly Fishers.
